7 benefits of practicing yoga

 

Is it likely to associate exercise with sweat, pain, breathing, difficulty or fatigue? Have you ever felt distant from the gym environment, because you felt it was or it is too agitated for you? Some people are just not fond of heavy exercises and they feel better in sports that are not so intense. Today we are going to talk about one of them which is yoga, its benefits and why you should test it out. The word yoga means in summary “connect” which is related to body and mind where you exercise and meditate. Yoga’s origins date back over 5000 years ago in India and today there are a lot of different types of yoga all over the world. Here are some benefits of practicing yoga:  

 

  1. Flexibility – anyone who starts practicing yoga is going to say I’m not flexible enough and it’s ok. Everyone who starts practicing the sport will pass through this situation and the only way to solve it is practicing. Flexibility will improve not only your joints, but also improve your daily movements as you take classes.
  2. Breathing – another benefit from yoga is that it will improve your  breathing by doing breathing exercises in class. This is also a benefit for people who practice other sports and anxious people because once you practice your breathing you can control it when anxiety hits.
  3. Attention – yoga will improve your level of attention through meditation. It will make you pay more attention to your body’s response to exercise and through meditation you will practice concentration which will certainly be useful for life as well.
  4. Posture – yoga will also help improve your posture and relax your back, reducing stress and anxiety.
  5. Muscle strengthening – some of the exercises and postures in yoga classes are executed with body weight so it will strengthen your arms, legs and back.
  6. Body awareness – yoga will make you improve your body awareness making it easier to correct postures and the body’s imbalances.

The benefits of yoga are not limited to physical and mental health. Many people find that the practice of yoga also helps them develop greater compassion, empathy, and self-awareness. By connecting with your body and breath, you can cultivate a deeper sense of connection with others and the world around you, which can lead to greater feelings of happiness and fulfillment.

Remember that any exercise you practice you might not like at first but you should give it a chance and you might surprise yourself. Yoga improves mental health in a general aspect because it reduces anxiety and improves your sleep. With consistent practice you are going to be able to see a transformation not only in body but also in your mind.
