5 Tips On How To Keep Your Gym Growing

Operating a gym may sound easy or simple, however when you start a business as such, it can take a long time and a lot of effort to keep up with. What many people mistake for any business, especially gyms, is all you have to do is get the initial investment and the business will continue to grow from there, however, that could not be further from the truth.

To keep your gym active and growing you need to consistently pay attention to everything that is happening and how things can be improved, updated and kept consistent. We’ve listed down 5 things that you need to do, in order to keep your gym growing.

  • Membership Lucky Draw

That’s right, some things are best done the good old ways and promotions and sales are one of them. If you have a marketing team work with them however if you don’t, it’s still okay!

This can be done through a lucky draw or any other fair way of giving away a free membership. Every month, 1 person from your gym can win a free membership for 1 months and workout for free! This is a great way to incentivize people to come in and stay at your gym, It also makes for a great point for people to refer their friends.

  • Referral Program

A referral program is one of the simplest and easiest ways to grow your gym. You don’t have to constantly work at and it kind of works in the background.

Offer a 10% or a 20% discount on a monthly membership to those who can refer a friend or anyone to join the gym. When someone joins your gym with a referral code, give the person who’s referral code they’re using a discount!

This can be beneficial for both you and the customer. You don’t have to go look for people to join the gym all the time, and by incentivizing your customers with a discount, they will do this job for you and bring in more people. In the end, they get a discount and it’s a win win!

  • Email Marketing

Email marketing is one of the most forgotten and underrated forms of marketing. While it’s great to have a strong social media presence, remember to utilize your emails to their maximum potential, but at the same time, don’t overdo it.

Start by sending out 1or 2 emails a week which can be motivational content, so when your customers see an email by your gym they may have encouragement to look forward to. You can then add in 1 or 2 emails a week promoting your gym, your products or anything you’re offering.

This created a balance between promotion and motivation and the user won’t get fed up. Another thing that you should keep in mind is not to send too many emails, whether they’re promotional content or motivational, no one likes spam and they will simply unsubscribe.

  • Updated Equipment

Yes! Just because people have started to sign up for your gym doesn’t mean you don’t have to regularly update and check your gym equipment.

If you gym equipment starts to get old, broken or needs replacement, people will very soon start to turn away and leave.

Therefore, before people start to head out the door, it’s important to regularly check your existing gym equipment and see if any maintenance is needed. You should also keep an eye on new gym equipment which you can buy and bring to your gym and keep it updated so it can compete and grow.

  • Friendly Staff

Lastly, no one wants to interact with gym staff that is grumpy or uninterested. Whether it’s the welcome staff at the reception or if it’s the help staff or the trainers, having a positive attitude can mean a lot for your customers.

When your customers feel welcomed and happy at the gym, not only will they continue to extend their memberships and stay but they will also talk to their friends about it and possibly start to bring in people simply through word of mouth.

Word of mouth goes a long way because people tend to listen to their friends and family more than ads and promoters.
