The Importance of Core Training

Health and fitness are one of the keys to a healthy life, however there is more to the gym than just lifting weights or running on treadmill, you need to know what kinds of workouts there are and which ones are beneficial for you.

Core training is one of the areas that is often left misunderstood in terms of how important it can be and what benefits it may bring.

There are a few muscles that make up your core, these can be divided into groups which are: abdominals, obliques, back, pelvic floor, spine, glutes and finally the diaphragm. Now that you know what parts make up the core, here are some points that explain the importance of core training:

Lower Back Stabilization

It’s proven that back muscles can be helped and improved in condition thanks to core exercises. To start off, you can do some beginner core exercises.

These beginner exercises can help strengthen your back muscles and improve balance. In addition to that, they can also restore physical performance.

When talking about beginner exercises, you can go with toe taps or bridge lifts and then gradually move on to more advanced and harder ones.

Better Balance

That’s right! Balance can be offset naturally, due to an accident or simply because of age. However, there’s good news.

You can help to improve your balance from core exercises. However, before going ahead and starting core exercises, it’s recommended you consult a doctor or a certified personal trainer that can look at your condition and mark you safe to continue with exercises. Once this is done, they can also help recommend what kinds of workouts to do, which are optimal for your condition.

Better Posture

Maintaining posture is something many of us have trouble with, often. It can be very easy to let go of ourselves and end up looking slouchy.

However, core exercises can also help improve posture. Exercises such as yoga help to stabilize core muscles and therefore improve your posture.

When it comes to yoga, standing, sitting and trying other yoga poses can further help you train your core muscles and over some time it leads to a better posture.

Helps Age Better

That’s right, exercising your core muscles even helps you age better. Since doing core muscle exercise helps keep your back healthy, prevents bad posture that leads to numerous problems and even helps your balance improve.

All these factors come together to help you age better and without as many problems that can occur later on due to things like bad posture or back pain.

Helps With Physical Activities

If you’re into any physical activities such as sports, golf, or any other games, the chances are it’s all going to benefit from your core exercises.

A Lot of these games and activities requires a strong and healthy core, that directly translates to better performance, less tiredness and a better overall posture.

Athletes with weak core muscles are more likely to face poor performance due to  a tired body, bad posture, lower back pains and muscle injuries.

Helps With Running

Exercising your core muscles can even help you with running! In 2019, a study of athletes relieved that an 8-week core workout training helped them perform better in terms of improved static balance, endurance and running energy.

Running is an exercise that benefits greatly from hips, glutes, back and spine muscles. This is why if you start working out your core muscles it will directly have a positive impact on your running performance.

Improves Everyday Tasks

While exercising your core muscles definitely helps to improve tasks such as sports, physical activities, running anything that involves your core body to become involved, what you may not know is that exercising your core muscles also helps benefit everyday tasks such as doing an office job, answering a phone or even working on your computer.

Desk jobs that require you to work all day can actually become strenuous to your core muscles and if they are weak, it can cause them to become stiff and sore. Working out helps improve this as well.
